Mother Divine: Mother in the Second Body

After graduating Wichita State University this past May with a Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre, Megan is delighted to be spending her summer with Western Playhouse! At Wichita State, she was seen in numerous plays, musicals and the Kansas Dance Festival. She has spent her past two summers as a company member at Prairie Repertory Theatre in Brookings, SD. There, she performed in Leading Ladies, State Fair, Steel Magnolias and Church Basement Ladies: A Second Helping. Megan can’t wait to begin the journey of her performance career with Western Playhouse and is looking forward to where that may take her next.

Alanna Lovely

Mother Divine: Emma

Alanna is delighted to make her debut at Western Playhouse in The Music Man. Her favorite characters played include: St. Monica in the Last Days of Judas Iscariot and Anita in West Side Story. A senior at Columbia College Chicago, Alanna is pursuing a degree in theater with a concentration in comedic writing and performance. In the next year Alanna plans to finish up her education at Columbia with a semester at Second City Chicago. She is also extremely excited to perform in Mother Divine at Western Playhouse this July. Alanna would like to thank Western Playhouse for the opportunity and she would especially like to thank her family and friends for putting up with her jokes and being so supportive.

Jacob Mills

Mother Divine: Brother Brotherly Love

Jacob Mills has been a student at Missouri Western for the past three years seeking a B.A. in Music (performing emphasis).  He has performed in several shows at Missouri Western and throughout the community during that time. However, this is Mr. Mills’ debut with Western Playhouse. Mills has enjoyed working with both new and old faces and is thankful for the opportunity to make new friends that he might not have met otherwise. He will also make an appearance in the choir of Mother Divine.

Amanda has danced for over thirteen years and is captain of the Missouri Western Mystics Dance Team for the second year in a row. Throughout high school, she performed in numerous productions including Oklahoma!, Honk!, and Rags to Riches and joined the Missouri Western theater department for The Producers. Amanda is in the ensemble of Mother Divine and serving as the assistant choreographer for that show. She is very thankful for the opportunity to work with Western Playhouse and can’t wait to see what the future holds.

Mother Divine: Miss Handsome Is As Handsome Does

Candace is excited to work with Western Playhouse this year! Recent performances include Show Boat (Asolo Rep),Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike (Asolo Rep), Harry and Lena (Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe), and Big River (Grandstreet Theatre). A graduate of the Florida State University School of Music, Candace previously worked as a backup singer in New York City and was a part of the Off-Broadway show, Sleep No More. Thank you Mother Divine cast and crew, family and friends. God is good!

Mary Kate is thrilled to be joining the cast of Mother Divine and the company of the Western Playhouse! Most recently she was seen as Woman 1 in I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change (Lander’s Theatre). Other favorite roles include Johanna in Sweeney Todd (Missouri State University), Kate in Oklahoma! (Tent Theatre) Sharpay in High School Musical (Bigfork Summer Playhouse, Bigfork, MT) Elsa Schrader in The Sound of Music (BSP), Kathy in 9 to 5 (BSP), and Enid Hoopes in Legally Blonde (BSP). Mary Kate is a very recent graduate of Missouri State University, receiving her BFA in Musical Theatre. She is so very thankful for the opportunity to perform in this awesome show, and to her parents for their unending support and love!

Erick is a recent arrival to NYC but has been seen around town as Sammy Davis, Jr. (The Ratpack Undead), in regional theatre as James “Thunder” Early (Dreamgirls) and in a variety of regional roles (Hairspray, Rent, Peter Pan). Erick is thrilled to be performing in Mother Divine and its incredibly talented cast, and would like to thank his family and friends for their love and continuous support.

Mother Divine: Miss Lovely Best

Merlynne Hughes is a native of St. Joseph, Mo. She is a mother of two wonderful children; Malik and Marlon. At the age of 17 she traveled with an international group called "Up with People." Merlynne has played in several different show at the local community theatre.  Some of the productions she has been apart of our; Mame, Seussical the Musical, Little Shop of Horrors, To Kill a Mockingbird, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Chicago and Drowsy Chaperone.

Missouri Western State University 1972 - 1976; Retired Missouri Air National Guard.  Plays: Christmas in the Jungle, Don't Quit, and Reporting For Duty. Attends Saint Francis Baptist Temple Church and choir member. Married: 38 years to Barbara Hughes. 4 children: 3 daughters and a son.

Lauren Bergman

Mother Divine: Miss Holyword Hallelujah

Lauren is a junior at Missouri Western pursuing a B.A. in Music with an emphasis in vocal performance. This is Lauren’s third season with Western Playhouse after serving as violinist and concert master in the pit orchestras for the previous two years. A few stage credits include: Missouri Western: The Producers (Ulla), The Magic Flute (Papagena), Sweeney Todd (Quintet/Chorus), Annie (Bonnie Boylan/Usherette/Chorus). Roubidoux Resident Theatre: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (Violet). Independent Theatre Group: The Musical Adventures of Oliver Twist (Miss Monks), Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (Alice), The Sound of Music (Brigetta), The Wizard of Oz (Dorothy).
