“The Music Man” June 20-28, 2014. An affectionate paean to Smalltown, U.S.A. of a bygone era, Meredith Willson's The Music Man follows fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill as he cons the people of River City, Iowa into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys' band he vows to organize - this despite the fact he doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain's fall.
“Mother Divine” July 11-19, 2014. Mother Divine has a problem: she's just passed away and her husband, Harlem evangelist Father Divine, has already found her younger 'reincarnation.' With a little help from bumbling taxman Lester Stufflebean, Mother Divine is dead set on proving it’s never too late for a first wife toget revenge! Everyone is chasing someone else’s secrets in this comicromp set to a rousing, Gospel-tinged score. Originally presented by the New York Musical Theatre Festival.
